Hi, I'm so glad you're interested in having me for your tutor. I am a Princeton University graduate, and I have a Master's in Education and a teaching credential in social science. I have tutored for over 15 years, helping students of a variety of ages and subject matters succeed in their studies. I specialize in language arts, and I have had great success with elementary school learners: these students improve their phonics, sight words, vocabulary, and enhanced reading skills. Reading comprehension is also a big focus of my teaching: students are able to understand the concepts and ideas better of what they just read after working with me.
I make my lessons fun and easy to understand. I help my students “learn how to learn” and a big part of what holds students back is not knowing what is expected of them. In a developmental sense, knowing what is being asked and knowing who is asking the question is SO important. For instance, if you are taking an exam, you need to know that a reading comp question will almost never have a specific answer for a “What is the main idea” question. These answers will invariable be general. It's vital to know what is the nature of the question and who is the audience your addressing.
Please contact me if you are having trouble with your studies. Not only am I an expert in the language arts arena, I teach music and study skills. Again, my lessons are fun and I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your educational goals! Thank you!
